Public Perspectives

Tracking residents’ perceptions and priorities over time

What was this about?

Public Perspectives has conducted Central Bedfordshire Council’s biennial residents’ tracker survey since 2012. This is a key part of the council’s research and consultation programme, helping monitor its reputation and perceptions of key services. It also helps the council understand residents’ priorities.

How did we do it?

The representative telephone survey of over 1,200 residents is conducted with quotas set for key demographics. A telephone survey approach is used, in part, for consistency over time as well as allowing comparison with the Local Government Association’s triannual survey, which is also conducted using telephone methodology.

What were the outcomes?

The council receives a detailed analytical report, including demographic analysis and trend data over time, as well as national comparisons where available.  This provides both on-going intelligence as well as directly informing annual priority and budget setting, helping make best use of limited and stretched resources.
